Happy 39th, Clint!

We started off the day with a phone call from Deb, (wishing Clint a happy birthday) followed in quick succession by phone calls from a lady we intended to buy a desk from (for Alexander), and from Curt; he, Ginny, David, Del, and Colleen sang Happy Birthday to Clint and then they were off to do whatever it was that they had to do before taking Del and Colleen to the airport. (Curt joked that for Clint’s birthday he was sending him his parents back. . . .) :D

Christina, oatmeal by the fistfulChristina LOVES oatmeal! We decided to stay up and have breakfast, and Christina woke up and joined us. Clint had set aside some oatmeal for her, before adding milk. I started feeding it to her with a spoon, but when I wasn’t looking, she grabbed a handful and shoved it into her mouth; I looked back just in time to see the fist sticking out of her lips. She looked immensely pleased with herself, and followed that handful up with another. If I’d let her, I think she would have polished off the whole bowl that way.

I’m really not quite sure how we passed most of the day; I know I took a shower at some point, and I ate some lunch, but aside from posting some on Errant Gamers, I really couldn’t tell you what else I did before Clint left for work.

I left at the same time he did, and picked up the kids from school. The plan was to head straight to Del and Colleen’s house and get the truck, then head to Wylie to pick up a desk for Alexander’s room. It dawned on me that the truck was going to be terribly crowded with me, two kids, and a car seat in the front seat, so I called Cheryl to see if the kids could come play for awhile; thankfully, she said “sure — bring ‘em on over!” (They, of course, had a blast and didn’t want to leave when it was time.)

I got the truck and drove to Wylie (after a quick time-out to feed the birds, turn up the thermostat in the house, and clean up the mess some critter had made in the garage), but ended up with no desk: I was almost 45 minutes late and the people had already left. Such is life, I suppose. . . .

I stopped on the way back (after confirming with Cheryl that she didn’t mind the extra time) to pick up a battery for Del and Colleen’s CRV; we were planning to drive it to the airport tonight to pick them up, and the batter was completely dead — it didn’t even pretend to try to turn over, even after 20 minutes of being connected to Clint’s car. Got to Cheryl’s just a few minutes before both Clint and Dave made it to our house, and told Dave to come on over and get the kids, forgetting that Clint might want to see them; decided to bring them home to say “hi!” and “happy birthday” to Clint, and then decided to give him his presents — quickly! — before they left with Dave. (He got Liberal Fascism and Photoshop Unmasked; he told the kids they have GREAT taste in presents: Angelina said, “but I didn’t pick them out!”) :D

Said goodbye to the kids and left immediately to go get Del and Colleen; it was perfect timing, because they called as we were pulling up to the terminal to tell us that they were headed for the baggage claim.

Clint and Caroledel and colleenClint and The UniverseWe stopped at Cheddar’s for Clint’s birthday dinner, and he opened his presents. (Primatene, The Mitten, and a HUGE book — The Universe — of pics from the Hubble Space Telescope.)

Christina poke fishChristina smile fishWe visited the fish tank on the way out, and Christina was fascinated by the fish. She tried to touch them, and smiled, and slapped the glass with her hand.  As we were about to walk away, I said, “can you wave bye bye to the fish?”  She smiled, looked up at the tank, circled her wrists and said, “bah bah!”  :D

We showed Del and Colleen Angelina’s new furniture, and Alexander’s new shelves, and they went home and we spent entirely too much time on our respective computers again. Now it’s 2 am and I’m still not in bed! (But I’m about to remedy that. . . .) :D

Happy Birthday Clint! What great pictures. Christina is adorable. :-) You two don’t look so bad either. I’ll be having a birthday next week…can’t believe it. Go Aquarians!
