Quick post, because I’m tired
Or, not so quick, since I seem incapable of leaving things out on purpose….
Yesterday:
Clint worked on Shana’s website and we worked on the playroom. The kids brought their bikes over, so we walked (while they rode) to the library. Stopped to chat with Geneva on the way home, then sat out front and watched the kids ride in circles on the driveway while Clint got their dinner ready. (We moved the cars out to the street to make room — they seemed to appreciate that.)
Around 1 am, the power flickered. This caused the laptop to reboot, and either the lack of music, or the thunder that caused it, woke the kids. Angelina came and got us while Alexander cried in his bead — it sucks being woken suddenly in the middle of the night, and I don’t blame him! Anyway, Clint got the emergency light to plug in in their room so they wouldn’t worry about being in the dark if the power went out again, and we laid in bed with them for a few minutes until they were smiling again. The rest of the night was uneventful.
Today:
Took the kids to school in the pouring rain. We had to make a run for the door when we arrived, because we were unable to find raincoats or umbrellas this morning — which is why I left around noon, to go find raincoats, rain boots, and umbrellas. I tried to pick up Clint’s shoes before I started shopping, but they weren’t in yet, so I headed over to Baby and Beyond; no raincoats or boots, but they had great prices on a couple of toys that I wanted to get for Christina — I decided to shop around before buying, so I left.
Next stop, Kid to Kid. Again, no raincoats or boots, but it’s Christina’s lucky day: I found a travel mobile, a rubbery teether, and a cute Halloween costume for her (I had been planning to buy a similar one from a lady in Frisco, but this was the same price, and MUCH closer to home — sorry!).
On to Once Upon a Child: Jackpot! I found a raincoat for each of the kids, and I found a couple more small teether-type toys for Christina.
Time to pick up the kids, and put together a coat rack for Miss Nona, then on to Target for rain boots and a giant umbrella. We also checked out car seats for when Christina outgrows her baby seat, and I think I know which one I want. (Evenflo Titan Elite)
I’m through comparison shopping now, and head back to Baby and Beyond to buy the toys I saw there for $7.50 each, instead of the $19.99 each (!!!) that the other two stores wanted for the same toys!
Next, we check on Clint’s shoes: Christina fell asleep in her car seat, so the kids stay in the car and watch her for me so I don’t have to wake her. The shoes are still not in. The tailor-lady takes my name and number and promises to call when they come in.
Last stop is Dollar Tree: we need batteries for Christina’s swing and for her new toys — I’ll post pics tomorrow — Christina’s still sleeping, so the kids watch her again.
Finally, we head home. The kids were such great helpers this afternoon that I told them I was going to pay them each a dollar for babysitting. They were very excited, and thanked me, repeatedly.
Angelina and Alexander had to investigate all of my purchases, and then decide to camp out on the couch under our new rainbow umbrella. They stay there until just a couple of minutes before Clint gets home, then they show him their new goodies.
After Dave picks the kids up, we watch Christina playing with her new toys, then fix dinner and eat while watching Heroes. Journeyman follows, and I’m much relieved to report that I enjoyed this week’s episode much more than last week’s.
Talked to Troy, sent an email to the ABC Moms group, and wrote this. Now I need to crash….
