Sometimes, the days blur together

I know I planned to post last night — I didn’t want to go to bed before posting, but figured I could do it in the morning — and now I have no idea what I was planning to write about.  sigh. . . .

I remember the kids played outside before they went to school.  They actually hadn’t done that in quite some time, and were very excited when they remembered that they used to do it almost every morning; they were excited enough about it that they got dressed before eating breakfast so they could go out as soon as they were done eating!  Clint went out with them while I packed lunches, and then it was time to go.  They slept at Dave’s last night, so they didn’t get to go out this morning, but they’re here tonight, so I’ll bet they’re dressed before I even wake up tomorrow morning.  : )

I managed to cross a couple of items off my to-do list yesterday — Clint’s shoes are being re-soled, and checks were deposited — but not the one I was most hoping to accomplish:  I tried to take my ring to Allen Jewelers, to see what they would charge to replace the stone, but the owners had to make an emergency run to the vet, so I’ll have to wait a couple of days if I want them to give me an estimate.  I’m not sure I want to go there now, though:  the lady who was filling in for them told me that I would have to leave my ring with them for 7 - 10 days!  I don’t really want to be without my wedding ring for that long, so it looks like I’ll be paying a visit to Fast-Fix over the weekend.

I don’t think I managed to get anything done besides grocery shopping today; that’s the hazard of starting to read again:  I have a really hard time putting down an interesting book, and I’m really enjoying The Time Traveler’s Wife, so I don’t want to do anything else until I’m done with it.  (Of course, I only have 100 large-print pages left, so I’ll be done with it sometime tomorrow — I could finish it tonight, but I’d pay for it tomorrow. . . .)

I used to read all the time — literally, all the time.  I would carry my book around the house with me and read it whenever I had a spare moment.  I would read while walking from room to room, while eating or using the restroom, and even while waiting at red lights and stop signs.  I tend to slow down when I get near the end of a book — I get attached to characters and I don’t want the story to end — that’s why I favor series.  With authors like Anne McCaffrey and Christopher Stasheff, I can read for weeks before I have to slow down!  : D
