Tuesday, October 9

Library videos were due today and the kids had said they were done with their books, so I popped Christina into the stroller and we took a walk to the library. A book I wanted to read (Time Traveler’s wife) was in, though only in large print, so I found it and checked it out. It was nice to not have any fines to pay first. . . . I don’t know when I stopped visiting the library on a regular basis, but I really need to do that more; it really is one of my favorite places.

On the way home we stopped to visit with Geneva, which we hadn’t done in months.

Christina with Geneva

She poured me some iced tea and we had a nice visit. She sat Christina on the couch next to her and made her laugh. She also showed me the bagful of pecans that she’d picked up out of her yard, so now I know what they look like when they’re ready!

After Clint left for work I went out in the yard to toss some limbs on the pile and found a bunch of pecans while I was out there.

Pecans!

It was actually quite fun, looking for them (kind of like an easter egg hunt!), so when I got the kids home from school I had them come out and help me. They thought it was fun too, so we ended up spending about two hours outside.

Alright, part of the two hours was spent swinging, not picking up pecans, but still. . . .
Kids, swinging

Christina’s first time in outside baby swing

Since the kids were swinging, I decided to let Christina try out the baby swing. The yellow ropes are worn from the weather, and are flaking off something prickly, so I got some fabric from inside and wrapped the ropes. She loved it! We got lots of pictures and videos to show Clint, and then had a repeat performance after he got home.

Dave called to see if the kids could sleep at his place — he had some church thing on Wednesday evening, so he wanted to switch — and picked them up literally a couple of minutes before Clint got home. We were all sad that they missed each other.

We watched an episode from season one of Heroes while we ate dinner. We are definitely hooked on this show; at least, we’re hooked on season one. . . . Clint isn’t as interested in season two yet, but I think we’ll like it better once we’re caught up. I guess we’ll find out. . . .
