Still the 5th — Carole’s turn

It was nice to see Angelina with a bit of energy and a smile on her face today. She kept asking if she could go to school, and I had to tell her that we needed to wait until we heard back from the doctor’s office about her strep test — then she proceeded to ask, every ten minutes or so, if they’d called yet . . . . Also, starting around 12, she wanted to know if we could go get Alexander, and alternated that question with the other.

Turns out that she didn’t know she was allowed to play if she was feeling up to it; she spent the entire week on the couch because she thought she had to — though I think she really wasn’t up to much more until today anyway — and was very relieved and happy when I told her she could go play in the playroom.

When Clint picked Alexander up we found that Miss Nona said that he’d done a great job on his poster, AND he got 12 out of 12 on his spelling test! Yay, Alexander! : )

We ordered a pizza tonight and watched Pushing Daisies. Like Clint said, we loved it and are looking forward to seeing more of it. Then we watched Private Practice. I think I could like the show, but tonight’s episode left me feeling drained and upset: There were two babies who were switched at birth, and according to the law, once that was discovered, the babies had to be switched back. They were nine months old. How do you take a nine-month old baby away from the only parents it’s ever known, forever???

Yes, I know it’s just a tv show, but these things actually happen.

I’m going to have nightmares tonight.

On another note, we need to stock up on apples again. I’ve fallen off the diet wagon; I did it while we were in Ohio, actually, but managed to lose five pounds while we were there anyway. I gained a couple back at the end of the trip, and now I think I’m ready to get back to it. I’m finding that I need to allow myself some treats. If I’m feeling deprived, then I spend lots of time thinking about all the things I can’t eat, and eating more of the things I’m “allowed” to eat. If I just go ahead and have a small snack, it’s better in the long run.

Stay tuned, and I’ll let you know how THAT pans out . . . . ;)
