Milk Supply Issues

We’ve known, since Christina was just under two weeks old, that I have a low milk supply.  This doesn’t come as a surprise, since it was low with Angelina and Alexander as well, but it’s disappointing anyway.

We’re doing everything we can to increase it:  Fenugreek, Blessed Thistle, and Alfalfa, three times/day; pumping as often as I can; nursing as often as Christina wants to; drinking plenty of fluids; the list goes on and on.

We’ve been talking to a lactation consultant (Wendy Blumberg), who is hopeful:  she has successfully helped other women whose situations mirror mine, so we’re trying to do everything she recommends.  (The pumping is the hardest to fit into our schedule, but I’m getting a bit better at it….)  Tomorrow — hopefully — one of the midwives will call in a prescription for me (either Reglan or Domperidone), and we’re hoping that it will work as anticipated.

I’m falling asleep at the keys now, so I guess I’ll sign off for now.

‘nite!  : )
